Project Overview
HRM is a web application designed to streamline and optimize human resources processes within an organization. This user-friendly system simplifies tasks such as employee data management, leave requests, performance evaluations and more. With intuitive interfaces and robust features, it empowers HR professionals to efficiently manage personnel information, enhancing overall HR productivity and organizational efficiency.
My Approach

Problem Research
I initiated the project by conducting a comprehensive questionnaire with the client to thoroughly understand their needs and requirements. The questionnaire covered various aspects of the project, including objectives, target audience, desired features, and any specific preferences or constraints.
The following questions were utilized in this process to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client's needs and requirements:

Competitive Analysis
During a competitor analysis, I have considered several key factors and features to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of competing apps.

User Research
Before designing the app, I conducted user research to understand the unique needs, challenges, and preferences of HR professionals and employees in Nepal regarding HR management software.

Survey Responses
Usage of HRM Software: About 70% of respondents use HR management software vendor, indicating demand for the HRM web app.
Satisfaction Levels: While some users are satisfied, others face issues with current HR systems like usability and functionality.
Top HR Challenges: Recruitment, leave management, and payroll processing are identified as primary challenges.
Desired Features: Users prioritize features like self-service portals, customizable reporting, and mobile responsiveness.
User Persona
A user persona is a fictional representation of a target user group for a product or service. It is a detailed description of a typical user that helps to better understand their needs, goals, behaviors, and preferences.

Empathy Mapping

Ideation Workshop
Once we collected insights and use cases from user interviews, we organized a workshop session with the team. We brainstormed creative solutions to address the key challenges identified in the HRM domain. We employed various ideation techniques such as brainstorming, mind mapping, and sketching to generate innovative ideas.
Through ideation exercises, we identified potential features, functionalities, and design concepts for the app, prioritizing those with the highest potential to address user needs and deliver value.

After sketching out various ideas, I moved on to crafting low-fidelity wireframes. Through multiple iterations and feedback sessions, I refined the designs to ensure they were intuitive and aligned with our goals. Each iteration brought us closer to creating a user-friendly and efficient app experience.
Low-Fi Wireframe
With each digital stroke, I outlined the app's structure and flow, exploring ideas freely and refining them based on feedback.

After finalizing the low-fidelity wireframes, it was time to put our designs to the test. We kicked off with internal usability testing sessions, where team members provided valuable feedback on the app's layout and functionality. With each session, we gained insights into areas for improvement, refining our designs based on the feedback received.
But we didn't stop there. We wanted to ensure that our app would resonate with our target audience, so we conducted remote usability testing as well.

Hi-Fi Wireframe
By the time I finished the low-fi wireframes, we had a clear roadmap. We were ready to elevate our design to the next level with high-fidelity wireframing.

Style Guide
A style guide is a set of guidelines and rules that dictate how a brand, organization, or publication presents itself to the public.

Visual Design
Visual design helps to establish the brand identity, creates a consistent look and feel, and provides a memorable and engaging user experience. It was an exciting phase, where we saw our vision come to life in vibrant detail.

Future Scope
Looking forward, the project's future scope includes expanding features to meet growing user needs, developing a mobile app version, and integrating emerging technologies like AI and analytics. Ongoing user research will drive continuous improvement, ensuring the HRM web app remains relevant and valuable as the company expands.
Key Takeaways
Working on this project taught me the importance of user research at every stage. Testing early prototypes with users clarified requirements and shaped UI design. I gained insight into HR systems and learned to incorporate user feedback for better solutions.
Conclusion
In conclusion, our journey in designing the HRM web app has been both challenging and rewarding. From ideation to usability testing, we remained focused on creating a user-friendly and intuitive experience for our users.
